My Artistic Journey

From an early age, I found inspiration from the female artists within my family, who paved the way for my own creative path. I was fortunate to be surrounded by family who nurtured my creative potential. At 16, I attended a 6-week pre-college program at RISD, where I honed my skills in figure drawing and oil painting. This experience solidified art's importance in my life, and from that moment, I knew it would always play an integral role in my day-to-day. I continued to refine my skills at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, under Professor Star Varner. In 2021, I graduated with a BFA in studio art, specializing in painting, and also earned minors in psychology and art history. Since graduating, I have shared my knowledge of art as a high school art teacher and have continued to create both commission and personal works.

Painting for Painting's Sake

When someone views my large scale paintings, I wish to transport them somewhere new. I combine observational skills with imagination to bring these works to life. I hope that my works combine a sense of familiarity with the unknown, allowing the viewer to experience the sublime emotions that nature evokes: equal parts overwhelmed and amazed by beauty. I am passionate about creating an image that feels almost magical and otherworldly, yet simultaneously welcoming and familiar. I want people to feel a sense of motion and/or serenity, depending on the mark-making approach used within each piece.

Art as Communication

I am passionate about communicating ideas and emotions in ways that words cannot describe. Before I could speak, I relied on artistic expression to communicate my thoughts, and art has always served as a primary form of communication for me.
